Hi, I'm Kate – your mediator.

You might know me better as The Practical Lawyer.

I am a Nationally Accredited Mediator and have practiced as a family law solicitor for over 23 years. I bring that experience and practical understanding to mediation, creating a space where everyone has the opportunity to be heard, their concerns understood and their needs considered.

I believe not everything needs to be complicated, and not every disagreement needs to become a battle. My role is to help people cut through the noise, focus on what really matters and find practical solutions that allow them to close one chapter and move forward to the next.

My philosophy is simple: don't make issues where there are none.

I believe not everything needs to be complicated, and not every disagreement needs to become a battle. My approach is practical, constructive and focused on what really matters.

My role is to help you cut through the noise, work through the issues and explore realistic solutions. The aim is to reach an agreement that allows you to put one chapter behind you and move forward with confidence into the next.

A practical alternative to court

Mediation offers a more cost-effective and timely alternative to traditional dispute resolution. Rather than becoming caught up in drawn-out negotiations or costly court proceedings, mediation provides an opportunity to have meaningful conversations, explore options and work towards a resolution.

I facilitate those conversations, helping you focus on the future rather than remain stuck in the issues of the past.

Parenting Mediation – Helping Parents Find a Way Forward

Separation can bring difficult decisions about children and future parenting arrangements. Mediation provides an opportunity to work through those issues constructively, with a focus on what matters most – finding practical arrangements that work for your family.

As a Nationally Accredited Mediator, I can assist with parenting mediations. I am currently undertaking the additional training required to become an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP).

Until that accreditation is obtained, I am unable to issue section 60I certificates under the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). If your matter requires a section 60I certificate, we can discuss this before commencing mediation so you understand your options and can make an informed decision about the best way forward.

Straightforward fees, no surprises

I offer two simple fee structures, so you can choose the option that best suits your circumstances.
